Qualifications & Competencies
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree. Advanced degree
desired;
A minimum of 5 years’ experience performing design works including solar PV systems and products;
Familiar with international Standards for power production systems, and other relevant standards;
Self-motivated, high energy, Original thinkers, with project management skills, able to succeed in a team
environment, with imagination, creativity, and vision, able to assume increasing responsibility in the short
term;
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with internal and external customers;
Solid general knowledge of computer technology and be proficient with 2D and 3D modelling software such
as Solid-works, PV System, and AutoCAD;
Have a passion for renewable energy and want to ensure a future for the environment.
Have an understanding of commercial aspects whilst focused design
Overseas trips may be required for technical support, as and when required.
Experience in the construction or renewable energy industry would be beneficial
Process and Detailed Oriented
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide pre-contract electrical system designs and cost estimates;
Provide post-contract construction and as-built electrical system designs;
Attend trainings and conferences both within and outside of Mauritius to gain top-of-class competencies in
system designs and design efficiencies;
Maintain a high level of proficiency with the International Electric Code and the various British, European and
IEEE standards related to our electrical works both in Mauritius and other African regions
Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering and operation team to provide holistic system designs that are both
compliant with all relevant standards and are safe and efficient to install;
Translate designs into sales, tender, construction document sets using Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD
Work both in the office and in the field during construction phases to insure continuous update and refinement
of engineering designs
Interface with local officials and utility engineers to design the best system configuration;
Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs;
Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs;
Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment;
specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards;
Supervise and train project team members as necessary;
Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that
installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements;
Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial
measures;
Follow systems performance in the field and prepare reports on performance, power variations and other
parameters;
Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct power system
problems;
Experience in working in a quality controlled environment and understand the importance with the different
departments.
